Privacy

This site collects no personal data of its own. There are no accounts, no forms, and no first-party analytics. Today’s rock is computed entirely on your own device from the current UTC date; nothing you do here is recorded or transmitted to us. The site does carry third-party advertising, which sets cookies — see “Cookies and advertising” below.

The hosting provider that serves these files may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and request times) for security and operational purposes, under its own privacy policy. That is outside this site’s control and involvement.

Cookies and advertising

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. To do that, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This site is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

You may look at the rock. You may rotate the rock. You may tell other people about the rock. You may not misrepresent the site’s content as advice of any kind, use it in a way that is unlawful, or attempt to disrupt its availability for others.

All site content, other than the underlying open web technologies and the third-party advertising described above, is original and generated procedurally.

The rock is not real. Its stated composition, mass, temperament, and provenance are fictional and generated by an algorithm. Nothing on this site constitutes geological, scientific, financial, legal, or any other professional advice. Any resemblance to actual rocks, living or sedimentary, is coincidental.

Each rock ceases to exist at midnight UTC. No archive is kept. This is intentional, and no liability is accepted for missed rocks.
